HEAVY DUTY TRASH WHEEL ASSEMBLIES
Please note these units are currently undergoing field testing. We expect them to be available some time in 2014.
Heavy Duty Trash Wheel assemblies are a new idea designed to be mounted across the front of broadacre machines so as to move as much trash away from the line of the tyne as possible. The Manutec Heavy Duty Trash Wheel Assembly is a single wheel assembly that is positioned in front of each tyne across the front of the machine. Each wheel is actually a rolling star wheel that acts like a hay rake to pull the straw/trash away from the line of the tyne. The assembly operates under its own weight and has a chain to lift the assembly out of the way when it is not required and for during transport. The star wheels are all located on a narrow cast hub with a HT stud pattern and LM tapered bearings. Each hub is greaseable and is also fitted with the Manutec special dust exclusion seal and a Heavy Duty steel cover to protect against rocks. The benefits of fitting Trash Wheels are;
- Reduces trash so as to make the tyne work easier.
- Reduces Blockages
- No Hair Pinning
- Works in all soil types
- Works in wet and dry trash
- Easy access for maintenance, positioned across the front of the machine, coulter assemblies are easy to access to do routine and emergency maintenance. Repair by replacement is a quick option with coulters and if spare parts are carried most breakdowns can be repaired in minutes.
- Easy to chain up if not required.
Mounting Heavy Duty Trash Wheel Assemblies. Normally mounted across the front of the machine, however on some machines they can also be fitted inside the frame. The most common method is by fitting a new toolbar either 3” or 4” RHS across the front of the machine. The toolbar can either be fixed (welded in place) or detachable. Manutec does a range of extension arms and U-Bolts that are available so as to easily set up a detachable tool bar. Generally toolbars are set up at around 350mm off the front bar of the machine. In many cases trash wheels can also be attached directly to the front frame. Often a combination of mounting methods needs to be used because of the limitations of some machines. Heavy Duty Trash Wheels can also be mounted on their own individual extension arm as an option. All U-bolts are supplied with each coulter assembly to allow fitment to either 3” or 4” frames. Extension arms and plates and heavy duty U-bolts are also available depending on what mounting options are used.
